Symbols for washing

Symbol Waschen

The most common symbol on the laundry label. It indicates that the clothing item can be washed normally in the washing machine.

Symbol Waschen

The wash-tub denotes that the clothing item can be washed in the washing machine. The degrees inside the tub specify the maximum temperature with which your clothing item can be washed. If the wash-tub is underlined you must wash your clothing item with the gentle cycle. For Miele washing machines this is the 'Minimum iron' programme. If there are two bars the Miele 'Synthetics' programme is recommended.

Symbol Waschen

Hand wash items. They either belong in a Miele washing machine with the 'Hand-washable woollens' or 'Silks' programmes or in the sink at no more than 40°C. In case of the latter please note: do not wring, do not rub.

A clear case for dry cleaning. Laundry with this symbol must not be hand or machine washed.

Symbols for drying

Symbol Trocknen

Forget the clothes line! This item can by dried in the dryer any time. The dots indicate the drying level in the tumble dryer. Two dots: the textiles can be dried at normal temperature. One dot means caution: Use the low temperature option for drying your laundry at a low temperature in the Miele tumble dryer.
Miele heat-pump tumble dryers always dry using a lower heat(1 dot) and are therefore particularly gentle on your laundry.

Symbol Trocknen

Keep clothes pegs to hand. Under no circumstances can this item of clothing be dried in a tumble dryer.

 

Symbols for ironing & rotary ironing

Symbol Bügeln & Mangeln

Effective against creases. An iron on the label indicates that the clothing item can be ironed with a regular iron as well as a rotary iron with a warm setting. The dots indicate the ironing temperature. Three dots correspond to a temperature of about 200°C. Two dots correspond to a temperature of about 150°C. One dot indicates that a temperature of about 110°C is completely sufficient for ironing or rotary ironing.

Symbol Bügeln & Mangeln

Do not iron. A clothing item with this symbol must not be ironed or rotary ironed.

 

Symbols for chlorine bleach

Symbol Chloren

Bright white: This item of clothing can be bleached with chlorine without any problems.

Symbol Chloren

Chlorine-free zone: This item of clothing does not tolerate chlorine bleach.

 

Symbols for dry-cleaning

F stands for hydrocarbon solvents. A line under the symbol signals a restriction with regard to mechanical impact, addition of moisture and temperature.

P indicates the the textile can be cleaned with perchlorethylenes. A line under the symbol signals a restriction with regard to mechanical impact, addition of moisture and temperature.

A crossed-our circle points out that the clothing item cannot be dry-cleaned but must be washed by hand.

The textile to be cared for may be cleaned by dry cleaner with a wet cleaning system.
